The 2016 vintage was characterised by a wet winter, followed by intensely dry spring and summer. Thanks to the water reserves accumulated over winter, vines maintained good levels of vegetal mass, which assured perfect ripeness, especially in high altitude vineyards. Vineyard health was in general very good.

The ripening process was slow, due to the water stress suered during summer, but there was a parallel ripening of sugar content and polyphenols, but with a big drop in acidity brought about by the intense heat in September.

Overall it was a very good vintage in terms of both quality and quantity. Most picking was done around 10th. October.

Tasting notes

Star bright and medium to full in colour intensity. Ruby with flashes of violet denoting youth.

Highly aromatic, delivering strawberry, raspberry and banana skin aromas, along with a noticeable lacteous note.

On the palate it is soft, with integrated tannins and medium acidity. There is a light carbonic tingle, a natural result of fermentation, which reinforces the wine’s crispness.

In the finish, the ripe fruit aromas noticeable at the beginning are the dominant feature.

Food pairing

Rice dishes, pasta, tapas and other light aperitifs, mild cheeses, cooked meats.
Optimal storage and serving conditions:
Storage in a cool place at a constant temperature – between 13ºC and 17ºC.
Protected from light and vibrations.
Serving perhaps lightly cooled, between 13ºC and 17ºC.
